Macroeconomic theory, Post-Keynesian textbook presentation different from General Theory Methodology
Abstract
Macroeconomic theory has been controversial ever since the publication of the General Theory in 1936. It is a disadvantage that this unsettled macroeconomic debate has not been thoroughly dealt with in commonly used textbooks. Furthermore, in a recent Danish review article on 'Macro-theory' this stylised textbook model is used as the 'laboratory' for macroeconomic analysis. That narrow approach has caused that important contributions by Post-Keynesian economists were disregarded which has impoverished the macroeconomic picture conveyed to the Danish audience. Subsequently, some important dividing lines from the international debate on macroeconomic theory are presented.
