Will buddy ideation work with children in the "rundt i ring k?" project?
Abstract
Co-designing with users and customers can be rewarding at best, unproductive at worst, and not the least when working with children. One example of this is the Body Games project [2]. The researchers encountered a problem in the project, namely that the kids reacted unexpected to the design activities they were asked to participate in. They simply did not do "product development" as the researchers had expected. Instead they engaged with the tasks and materials in a playful manner, making the process the goal rather than the way to the goal. Kj?aard & Otto [2] reach the conclusion that it would be helpful to see participatory design activities also as ethnographic studies.
