This paper describes the design of a telephone-based knowledge sharing system for Boston's Chinatown neighborhood. The authors consider participatory design methods from a practitioner's perspective, point out specific challenges posed by working in low-income, immigrant neighborhoods, and consider the role that participatory design can play in addressing immediate needs and long term goals for urban communities.Downloads
